L.E.S. Love

Having lived in the East Village for eight years, I spent some serious time on the Lower East Side…I have such fond memories of Ecomony Candy (the only place to buy Red Vines in NYC before they started distributing them on the East Coast), TG-170 (maybe the first great boutique in the hood), Guss’ Pickles (yum!), and the Lower East Side Tenement Museum (go!).

Angela, Cerise and I spent a little time there last week, and I was so happy to see my favorite spots still holding their own. I mean, I know it’s been almost eight years since I’ve lived in New York, but the neighborhood has changed so much! I won’t complain about killer boutiques like Some Odd Rubies and Doyle & Doyle, but it kind of weirds me out to see Max Fish and Pink Pony saddling up next to the Hotel on Rivington where the rooms start at $419 per night.
