make me ache for New York! For more gorgeous NYC polaroids (lots of Brooklyn, in particular), check out Porter Hovery Polaroid Project.

A couple of weeks ago, I flew to Portland to attend a family wedding. Luckily, I had one night to sneak off to Someday Lounge to listen to my friend Chelsea and her band, Dirty Mittens, perform. It was my first time listening to them, and I was totally blown away by their performance! Their songs are fun and poppy but have enough complexity to keep you interested. Needless to say, the album is making it’s rounds on the office ipod! Preview their songs here.

When it’s someone’s birthday here at Ruby Press we always have champagne, sweets, and decor that involves variations on vintage paper lanterns, streamers and garlands. And we always aim for a big “SURPRISE!!”, and the birthday girl/boy always plays along…
This post on Frolic links to Purl Soho who shows you step by step how to make a pretty fabric garland yourself.

{and we always leave the decor up for at least a week!}
but so cute! I am not quite sure why stamps keep popping up in our blog- maybe it’s because of the inordinate amount of mailings we do??

{These are new, 42 cent stamps- not vintage! And of course, buy them here.}
I’m a true believer in the miraculous capabilities of hardware accessories. They are every dull piece of furniture’s saving grace. While I’ve always been a fan of the vintage finds, I’ve fallen for these exotic pieces by Allegra Hicks. What better way to transform a boudoir? These metal ring and snake pulls are very regal Egyptian.

Okay, since we were tagged by Crosby at PR Couture, I am now bestowing the Brillante Weblog Award to the following seven blogs (in random order) that I just can’t be without:
Coco+Kelley- Cassandra from Coco+Kelly always picks gorgeous things to write about whether it be an amazing hotel in Spain or a beautiful evening dress.
In(side) the Loop- Courtney may be a Texas girl, but we have so much in common…we both worked in the fashion industry in NYC, plus we both love food trucks, shoes, and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
oh joy!- This was the blog that started it all for me…Thank you Joy for introducing me to the fabulous world of blogs! If you aren’t reading this blog, you should be.
a cup of jo- Joanna always finds little tidbits that you want to share with your friends, whether it be funny, quirky, chic or all three. There’s a reason her blog is so popular!
The Bedlam of Beefy- Bradford, or as we affectionately call him, “Uncle Beefy”, has created a blog that’s personal, witty, and stylish. Love him and his blog. You will too.
{frolic!}- Chelsea from frolic has a great sense of style and always comes up with great posts that make me wish I’d written them. And she’s a doll.
This is Glamorous- The name really says it all. Gorgeous blog for home decor and style in general. Always beautiful.

When Crosby of PR Couture was bestowed with a Brillante Weblog Award from Styleit (congrats Crosby!!), she followed the Brillante Weblog protocol and announced HER favorite 7 blogs.
I think I blushed a little when I read “Ruby Press” on her list this morning and digested her sweet words about us… Thanks so much Crosby! We’re honored to be included!
Our 7 picks later today…

I pass the castle-like Julia Morgan-designed Berkeley City Club everyday on the drive home from work. Isn’t it the most amazing place? Take a tour here, or stay a night when you’re in town. Maybe I should join…
