I was poking around in our backyard this past weekend and to my delight, I found a blackberry bush growing along the back fence! (We’ve only been in our house for a month, so I’m only 3/4 clueless!) We had blackberry bushes in our yard growing up and my mom made the best blackberry pies with them… it’s still my favorite dessert of all time to this day.

Gorgeous photo! When I was last home, my parents dog had a purple mouth and I realised he had been eating all the wild blackberries at the end of the property! Love your blog xx
Thanks Emma!! And what a cute story about your parents’ dog! I love that!
I guess it’s all about perspective isn’t it, Melissa? My yard is a constant battle against the encroaching blackberries (despite my love of their blossoms and, of course, their berries). In another month you’ll likely see lots of people out on their evening walks with bowls in hand picking them by the roadside. See…now look…you made me go and get all romantical!
Lovely pic!
UB- I know what you mean!
I remember that eventually my mom had the bushes removed because they were attracting snakes (yikes!), but they kept growing back… I’m hoping that these vines grow like weeds so I have enough for a few pies!
this photo is GORGEOUS!
