I was just talking to a friend about Ici, the most charming ice cream shop here in Berkeley. She is moving into an apartment just blocks away, and I’m insanely jealous.
The shop is charming but spare (just the way I like it). The ice cream is interesting and delicious (again, just the way I like it). Gingersnap, rose pistachio, malted milk…you get the idea.

No, no, no, Melissa! What is going on here? Those clean, simple tiles are soooo busy. If you’re going to display the cones…then put them in something attractive and nice to look at. Different unique flavors…well that’s just blasphemous. And honestly, an ice cream sandwich? Who ever heard of such a thing?! Much less combining chocolate cookie and vanilla ice cream…a terrible combination. No this will never work.

BIG ice cream lover here and the photo of the ice cream sandwiches is almost cruel in its tempting deliciousness. 
UB- And oh yes, I forgot to mention that the ice cream sandwich is malted milk flavor! Yum, yum, yum!!

I first had Ici ice cream while I was home last Christmas, and it is to die for. And now I’ll be craving it again until I can make it back home…!
