Annika Wester

Love the work of illustrator Annika Wester!

{Thank you Design is Mine for the introduction!}

Nyphenburg

Now take a good look, these aren’t your grandmother’s hummels! These sleek, crisp works of art give a new modern appreciation for the porcelain figurine. The Bavarian-based Nymphenburg factory certainly knows what they’re doing (they’ve been handcrafting these fine porcelain works since the 18th century)!

Treasure Trove

You know how sometimes you find such a great resource you almost hesitate to share it?? Trove is that place for me. I’d visited the home outlet a few years ago and hadn’t been back until recently and I realized that I had been missing out! I bought the most amazing mirror (they also had a glossy cherry red one!) that I’m going to hang in my living room and am now obsessed with almost everything else in their store. And did I happen to mention that everything is crazy cheap?? I know- almost too good to be true.

P.S. Oh, and if you see something you like on their site or blog, you can call and order it and have it shipped if you aren’t lucky enough to live within driving distance.

P.P.S. I’m the one who bought this mirror as the salesgirl mentions in her blog! Hehe!

A Fond Farewell

to Mayle. To me, it feels a bit like the end of an era. I remember when Jane Mayle opened her first store with her line Phare (pronounced FAR) in an area that we used to just call Little Italy- ha!- before it was trendy. I worked with her line when I was an editor at Mademoiselle and recall going to see the collection at her ridiculously charming apartment. I can’t be too sad- I’m sure Jane has something pretty great up her sleeve- but I am glad to have the Mayle dresses in my closet that will never go out of rotation.

Is this for real?

A chocolate chip cupcake?? From Bake or Break…here’s the scrumptious recipe. Mmmmm!

The Perfect Pavlova

The first time I ever tried a pavlova was years ago at one of my favorite NYC restaurants, Balthazar. (And it’s still on the menu…) The meringue, the cream, the berries- complete perfection. I love making them, but even more, love devouring them. I’m thinking about making one when some friends come over later this month…

I can’t wait!

I am so excited to get my candles in the mail… I just read about Farmer’s Market Candles on my friend Amy’s blog Discourse and Design… Simple and chic packaging, amazing scents, and $10 to boot! I ordered Fig Rose Black Pepper, Frankincense Myrrh, and Lavender Rosemary. Now I just have to be patient and wait for my package to arrive!

Have a great weekend!

I’ll be spending as much time outside this weekend as possible with a cold drink and a good book. xx
