You know when you find something that you love so much and you can’t decide whether you want to tell everyone or keep the secret to yourself?? Well, this was a tough decision, but I know you guys will love this too…
It’s an amazing online antique boutique- FrenchBlue & Co. So well-edited, so chic, so French! {Introduced to me by my friend Lynn at Paris Hotel Boutique, who knows a bit about these sorts of things!}

I’ve always wondered about the history of Colonnade Row in New York… When I lived there, I must have looked at this building almost everyday {it’s just south of Astor Place, on Lafayette}. Its elegant- yet decaying- facade always made me curious about its history, but I could never find information about it. I just came across this amazing blog about the history of New York {which I can predict I’ll be spending lots of time on!} and they have a great post about the building. It is now four town houses but was originally was nine. It was built in 1830 and, as I read on the blog- “Famous residents, over time, included Astors, Vanderbilts, Morgans, Delanos (including FDR’s maternal grandparents), Washington Irving, William Makepeace Thackeray, and Julia Gardiner, who married the sitting U.S. President James Tyler in 1844. Charles Dickens stayed there during his trip to New York in 1842.”
P.S. And if you’re as interested as me {and I doubt many of you are!}, here’s a blog ‘by’ a sweet little bulldog named Kirby living there now!

Hooray for Milan and for Anna Molinari!

that I am less than inspired by the fall runway shows in NYC and London thus far. {Okay, with a few exceptions.} The sea of black just reminds me of the early 90’s when I was an assistant at Harper’s Bazaar… Maybe it’s because I can no longer call myself a New Yorker, but the black wardrobe just doesn’t have the same thrill as it used to. I know everyone is playing it “safe” due to the economy, but it seems to be that if designers want to inspire shopping- at least for me!- they’d be better off creating pieces that give you that “I must have it!” feeling… right??

Isn’t this ship chandelier stunning?? Melissa spotted one in a bridal gown ad and we laughed about the chandelier stealing the show.

A personal highlight from London Fashion Week… I could just about live in Aquascutum’s Fall collection!

We have an intern position open here at Ruby Press! Ideally, starting in late February or early March. The internship lasts six months and we’re looking for someone who can commit 3 days a week.
This is an unpaid position, but it’s a fantastic opportunity to get your foot in the door, whether you want to get into fashion/lifestyle PR or the editorial world. {Just ask our past interns!}
If you’re interested in the position, please email Sam at sam@rubypr.com, and include a cover letter and resume. {But please, oh please, don’t send them as attachments. Only in the body of the email. We’ve gotten too many viruses that way.} And good luck!

Well, as of today, we have had our blog for one year! It’s hard to believe it- the time has flown. It’s funny to think that when I started this blog I was actually a little worried about running out of things to post about!
It really means so much to all of us here at Ruby Press that you guys actually read {and sometimes comment!} on our blog. I, for one, have made some really amazing new friends through the blog that I never would have met otherwise. It’s so cool. I had no idea before diving into all of this, what a really warm, tightly-knit group the blogging community really is.
So thank you. You make this all worthwhile.
xxMelissa and the rest of the Ruby Press-ites
