Gilded hardware

P.E. Guerin makes the most exquisite hardware accessories! I’m head over heels for these posh, vintage inspired door knockers. I’m even day dreaming about a lacquered door for each! {Can’t you just see tangerine for the lion, robin’s egg blue for the Louis XVI, and black for the eagle?}

54 Mint

When a friend is going to NYC and asks for recommendation for a really special, charming restaurant, I always suggest Il Buco.  One of the most romantic spots in the city, the space doubles as an antique store by day.  {And the basement/wine cellar space is hauntingly beautiful and is rumored to have been the inspiration behind Edgar Allan Poe’s The Cask of Amontillado!}

Well, I’ll no longer have to go to New York for Il Buco’s scrumptious homemade pastas and amazing wine list.  The founder, Alberto Avalle, is opening a new restaurant, 54 Mint {opens by Monday, May 18th} in the charming Mint Plaza here in San Francisco!  I am dying to try it…

Elements of Style

I came upon this amazing blog which offers great images and info on home décor as well as the occasional sprinkling of fashion finds.  Erin is an interior stylist from Boston and I love that she references “Clueless,” infuses her entries with a ton of pictures, and uses the term “real estalking”!

Lavender Syrup

Sam and I spent the afternoon in Healdsburg on Saturday and I had the yummiest lavender lemonade, which inspired me to pluck some lavender sprigs from the yard and make my own lavender syrup.  {Then I made a rosemary syrup and meyer lemon blossom syrup.  All so good!}  Here’s how to make:

Boil one cup of sugar into one cup of water.

When the sugar has dissolved, just add about 4 or 5 sprigs of fresh {not dried} lavender and let boil for ten more minutes.

Cool, and then strain into a container.  Will keep in the frig for about 2 weeks.

To make other versions, just substitute fresh rosemary or blossoms from a lemon tree.

Baked goods from Heaven

The lovely Taylor from Heaven {a charming bakery in NY state} sent some delicious baked goodies and we are devouring them!!  {Thank you Taylor!} The peanut butter brownie is insanely moist and delicious.  Next time I need to send a box of sweets, I’m giving them a call!
