Betsey News

I adore Betsey Johnson- maybe it’s because she was a guest editor at Mademoiselle in the 60’s {where I was an editor in the 90’s}, or because my mom used to make clothes from her patterns in the early 70’s or maybe it’s because she throws the best parties.  {Side note: I was invited to an intimate party at her home when I was an editor and nothing was off-limits.  She gave me a tour of her entire home and even showed me her well-organized lingerie drawers!  She served pizza, m&m’s and champagne- what could be better?  And her penthouse apartment?  Amazing.  Especially her bedroom which was on the building’s rooftop and had glass walls…see a photo of how her bedroom was right here.  First shot.}   She also introduced me to Red Vines {yep, they weren’t available on the East Coast in the 90’s}, which started my addiction!

The news?  After all of these years of working so hard and creating such an amazing brand, she is finally ready to retire and instead act as a “megaconsultant”.  Read her thoughts here.  No one deserves it more- enjoy retirement Betsey!  xx

I adore Betsey, too (and dream of renting Betseyville for a vacation some day!) but I have to say…I would push her out of the way to get my grubby paws on those yellow Platner wire chairs! Be still my heart.

(I wouldn’t really push her. But I might try to distract her with something shiny while I make off with the goods.)

You’re right Jessica Claire! It was really amazing- and the best part was the way it was so open to her guests- I think at one point I was hanging out on her bed! ;)

    Hello,Melissa,
I meant to post these pictures for ages, but you most probably did it so much better than I would with such an interesting narrative. I loved it.
