Marie Veronique Organics’ New Look

I know many of you have been waiting for this day…the relaunch of organic skincare brand Marie Veronique Organics!  We {here at Ruby Press} are just in love with the fresh new packaging and website.  {But don’t worry Marie Veronique Organics fans- the products inside the beautiful amber apothecary bottles are indeed the same ones you fell in love with.}

My personal can’t-live-without products include the Anti-Aging Oil Plus, the Moisturizing Face Screen Plus, SPF 30 with Light Tint {It’s not just my fave- the Environmental Working Group named it one of the best 6 moisturizers with sunscreen*- in terms of efficacy and safety- for 2009!}, and the Skin Lightening Serum/ Skin Lightening Vitamin C Supplement duet.

*When you check out the EWG’s list, you’ll see the Moisturizing Face Screen Plus, 30 SPF with Light Tint by it’s former name, Creme de Soleil Tinted.  Click here to find your favorite products’ new names.

Karl called the heart-shaped hair coiffures “neon baroque”….Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette has been influential way beyond it’s time, don’t you think?

Body balms

I have long been a lover of body balms- they moisturize like nothing else and I’m crazy the about the glow it leaves on my skin.  I’ve been a huge fan of San Francisco-based In Fiore’s body balms for years now {which I always pick up here in Berkeley}.  This past summer I tried McEvoy Ranch’s Verde Body Balm, which had a yummy fresh olive scent that I obsessed over.  I have just recently been turned onto another great body balm- Hammocks & High Tea’s new Ilha Organics body balms.  I love the Flor body balm, which is a combination of  geranium rose, Bulgarian rose, Indian jasmine, ylang ylang, and bergamot oils…gorgeous!

Daiso

Over the holiday weekend, on the recommendation of a friend, I trekked over to Daiso, a Japanese dollar store {okay, $1.50 store}, that sells everything from kitchenware, to hair accessories, to candy.  I kind of lost track of time while I was in the store- there were so many cute- and often hilarious- finds.  Perfect Christmas stocking stuffers, for sure.  And almost everything is $1.50 so you can load up your cart without any guilt!

The Perfectly Unkempt Bun

For those lazy mornings when the last thing you want to do is stress about your hair, I love Joanna’s little tutorial on how to get that tousled yet oh-so-French bun over at Experience PARISIENNE.  How adorable {and easy!} is this?

Stasis Brows

I have to share a resource with my SF Bay Area friends- I just discovered Bridgette at Stasis Brows {call 415.436.1512 for an appt} and I don’t think my face will ever be the same.  Isn’t it funny how much a cleaned up, perfectly shaped eyebrow can change your whole face?  I am a true believer.  {Thanks for the tip Racine!! xx}

At Chanel…

Today’s Chanel spring collection was truly ‘charmant’, but this shot of the gorgeous body art created for the presentation just stole the show for me.

Audrey Tautou and Chanel

With the release of the new Coco Before Chanel, opening in San Francisco this weekend and starring Audrey Tautou, I thought it appropriate to re-visit this beautifully shot commercial for Chanel No 5.   Tautou is utterly luminous as I’m sure she will be in the movie.
