Twenty years of Maison Martin Margiela

I’ve always viewed Martin Margiela’s designs as works of art that should be collected and appreciated as such.  So when I read that more than 1,000 vintage and one-of-a-kind pieces, owned by the late Marcia Berger are now on display at  Resurrection Vintage Clothing in New York and Los Angeles, I was elated!  300 select pieces are also featured for sale on design auction website 1stdibs.com.  With most pieces priced in the four-figures, this collection isn’t for everyone, but perusing the pieces online is a must-do for fashion lovers!

The little striped dress

Aaaah… the spring/summer equivalent of the LBD. Isn’t it lovely? All it needs is some coral nail polish, white sunglasses, and a gigantic straw tote.

{I found it here!}

Jeffrey Monteiro

If you’ve read my bio {see below}, you’ll know I terribly miss Jane Mayle’s namesake collection. But the stunning pieces comprising the spring collection of Jeffrey Monteiro just might be worthy substitutes. A former design director at Mayle, Monteiro’s charming, detail-ridden dresses and tops evoke a disheveled femininity quite reminiscent of my beloved Mayle pieces. I can’t wait to buy one of these little gems for spring!

Marc Jacobs + Maripol

It’s funny…the last time I shopped in a Marc by Marc Jacobs boutique I told Sam that it reminded me so much of shopping at Fiorucci in the 80’s.   Fiorucci was number one on my list on my first trip to NY as a teenager…I was dying to buy jewelry by Maripol, who was credited with Madonna’s jewelry back in the early 80’s.  Well, clearly I wasn’t the only one making that association because Marc Jacobs has collaborated with Maripol to create a line which is sold in the Marc by Marc Jacobs boutiques.  Think rubber bracelets, chain necklaces and tees which range in price from $4 to $35.  Love it!!

Keel’s Simple Diary

I just ordered one of these chic little diaries from Taschen.  Keel’s Simple Diary offers daily axioms, fill-in-the-blanks, multiple choice questions, and other quirky ways to keep track of your day.  {Look inside here!}  Keeping a diary always seemed so tedious until now.   I’m really looking forward to taking a  break from technology, picking up a pen, and simplifying!

Liebemarlene Vintage

Wow, I am just kind of in awe of vintage dealer Rhiannon Liefhert, her website, and the atmospheric shots she posts of herself in her wares {taken all across the country}.  Some of my favorite shots…

Renegade Craft Fair Holiday Sale

This weekend San Francisco hosts the Renegade Craft Fair Holiday Sale at Fort Mason.  I’ve attended the last two fairs held during the summer, and Bay Area folks can now score last-minute holiday gifts in the first-ever December event {trust me, it’s impossible to walk away empty-handed.}  The selection of crafts is enormous, and everything is top-notch quality {but totally affordable!}. Sweetening the deal even more, it’s free to attend!
