Phil’s Sliders

Hands down, the best part of working in downtown Berkeley is the abundance of delicious food. Some days, it’s hard to choose between a crispy fish taco at Cancun, a slice of pizza at Cheeseboard, or huge piece of tomato and olive focaccia at PIQ. We have a new favorite though, and it’s Phil’s Sliders. Their juicy burgers and crispy tater tots are mouthwatering, but my favorite is definitely their milkshakes. In addition to standard vanilla and chocolate, they have a rotating lineup that includes salted caramel, toasted marshmallow, and cookies-n-cream. If you can’t make it to Phil’s (or you just have a craving for a toasted marshmallow shake), try Joy the Baker’s recipe! (I think I’m making one tonight!)

Flour + Water in the field!

Last year, I went to an Outstanding in the Field dinner and the experience definitely ranks as one of the coolest things I’ve ever done. This year, Flour + Water’s chef Thomas McNaughton is preparing dinner at Devils Gulch Ranch {the same beautiful farm I visited last May!} on May 27. Eating McNaughton’s handmade pastas in a vineyard in picturesque Marin County sounds like the most perfect night I can imagine. Tickets for the 2012 lineup of Outstanding in the Field dinners go on sale March 20 – get yours fast; they sell out like hot cakes!

Sissy + Marley

Do you know Sissy + Marley?  They’re a super styley  baby concierge service.  What does that mean?  The three stylish women behind the brand {two beautiful sisters and their gorgeous mom!}  can help you with everything from designing the chicest nursery to helping you edit down the list of new baby must-haves to hooking you up with a private chef who will help you make the perfect foods for your little one right in your own kitchen.  They’re based in New York City, but you don’t have to live there to benefit from their blog, full of eye candy and helpful info.

Today they featured a little Q&A with me about work, style, and motherhood…  Thanks so much Chelsea!!  I’m truly honored to be included.  xx

Instagram!

I just joined the Instagram party- so fun!  Follow rubypress to see what’s happening at our office and in my life after hours- and maybe a shot of our little Sammy here and there!?

{my Instagram photo- duh!}

Crown of Flowers

Whenever I see a gorgeous crown of flowers,  I can’t help but instantly hear the Led Zeppelin lyrics, “someone told me there’s a girl out there, with love in her eyes, and flowers in her hair”… I am so in love with the use of  elaborate floral headpieces in weddings and understated versions in every day life {because, why not?}. They’re ultra-feminine, delicate, and evoke a sense of nostalgia. Love.

Paint the town tangerine!

Tangerine everything seems to be popping up all over as we  anxiously await the arrival of spring! The more I see, the more I want. Apparently, I’m not the only one who has also fallen in love with the gorgeous color… everything from this and this, all the way to these, these, and that {yes, please! }, prove that tangerine is the official color of spring!

Ready to Launch?

I come across young women and men wanting to get into the fashion/lifestyle PR business almost every day.  We have had amazing interns over these past 10+ years at Ruby Press, I answer PR students’ questions on a regular basis, and have spoken at numerous colleges and universities on the subject.  I LOVE that Crosby from PR Couture has just written a book- Ready to Launch: The PR Couture Guide to Breaking into Fashion PR- full of useful information for those who want to get into the industry. She thoughtfully answers the questions that everyone asks.  {And yes, that’s me quoted on page 81!}

La Maison Champs Elysees

La Maison Champs Elysées invited Martin Margiela to give the Parisian luxury hotel a relaxed, yet elegant new look and I am obsessing over the result.  Super chic, white slipcovered furniture and lots of light?  I love it- even the hilarious slipcovered TV and phone!

{And for those of you who prefer dark and sexy, check out their Cigar Bar!}
