Ten Things that Make Me Happy

Caitlin from Sacramento Street Blog asked me to be a part of her guest blogger series, Ten Things That Make Me Happy, and of course I was thrilled to join in. My post went live today, and you can probably guess the theme!

Thanks so much Caitlin!!

Mademoiselle

I worked at Mademoiselle magazine from 1995 to 2000, right before Conde Nast sadly shuttered its doors.  It saddens me that it’s now been almost ten years since it’s been in publication.   Of course I have all of the issues from when I was an editor there saved {at my parents’ house- sorry mom!} but I’ve also bought many vintage issues over the years, some of which I’m selling on eBay.  {We have to make room for the newest addition to the family two months from now!}

My faves are this one, for it’s gorgeous and totally unique cover, and this one because of the great fashion career articles….

Alexis Swanson’s Napa Tips for the Curious & Eccentric

Alexis Swanson’s new blog is indispensable  for those of you visiting Napa Valley for the first time or even for those who make regular trips {like myself}- it’s chock full of stylish and quirky tips and suggestions…like the Fremont Diner or a chic little dixie cup-like glass perfect for sipping wine….

Givenchy Fall 2010 Couture

Riccardo Tisci drew inspiration from Frida Kahlo and her fixations with religion, sensuality, and human anatomy to create Givenchy’s elaborate, ornate Fall 2010 couture collection. Isn’t it amazing?

Rue Magazine

Another home decor online magazine- Rue- is on the horizon and from what I’ve heard, it will rock our worlds!  Four fabulous bloggers {Crystal from Plush Palate, Anne from The City Sage, Alaina from Live Creating Yourself, and Caitlin from Sacramento Street Blog} are behind it, and the first issue is slated to debut mid-September.  {Same due date as our little guy’s impending arrival!}  For now, follow them on Facebook or Twitter so you can stay abreast of the news!  Of course we’ll link to the premiere issue as soon as it debuts…

Did you know…

That many of the Ruby Press clients have blogs?

Link over to their blogs, and get to know the cool, stylish, eco-minded women behind Plover Organic {that’s Marisa, Sheila, and Julia!}, learn what Irene from iomoi is coveting right now, hear about what’s happening at fine jeweler Vicente Agor’s studio, enter the happy, light-filled bohemian world of Rikshaw Design, educate yourself on Marie Veronique Organics’ blog, and see what’s new at the charming Old Village Hall

{Recognize this Mayle print?  Marisa from Plover Organic did, and it was in a blouse just her size…read about her incredibly good luck in this blog post.}

Celine Resort 2011 Collection

Phoebe Philo never ceases to amaze me. I love the Celine Resort 2011 Collection, it is so wearable and chic!

Edward Sharpe is Magnetic

How to describe this 10 member band of brilliance Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros? Their sound and style is reminiscent of the 60’s and 70’s yet with a new twist and some occasional dark tunes, which always leaves me in awe after listening. The song “Home” on their album “Up From Below” is a perfect soundtrack to start off any summer; happy, fun-loving and free-spirited!
