High Line Park

On our last trip to NY, I was so excited to finally get a chance to check out High Line Park, an old elevated railroad running through the Meatpacking District and Chelsea that’s been converted to a park. It’s so beautiful and it provides such a unique vantage point of the city – not to mention, it’s a quick walk from Magnolia Bakery and the perfect place to enjoy some banana pudding!

Pumpkin Spice And Everything Nice

Now that it’s November {can you believe it?!}, and with the weather feeling decidedly fall-like, I can’t seem to stop thinking about all things pumpkin. I dabbled in a bit of baking last week thanks to Trader Joes’ Pumpkin Bread & Muffin mix {easy and delicious!} and now I’m craving more! This recipe for Pumpkin Buttermilk Scones on Etsy’s blog sounds and looks so delicious – I can’t wait to put my baking skills to the test. The perfect treat for a crisp, fall morning!

Sous Style: The Imperfect Perfect

Pippa Lord, ELLE’S Photo Director, is intelligent, talented, and beautiful – but she isn’t perfect… and that’s fine by her- and us! Sous Style, Lord’s recently launched site is a testament to her strive for the “imperfect perfect“. Dedicated to a “New Generation of Homemakers”, Sous Style is a chic destination for women who are passionate about home, food, and style, but don’t necessarily fit the traditional “homemaker” role. Rather than demanding homemaking perfection, Lord and her team embrace the imperfections and flaws in life and encourage their readers to do the same.  Love it.

Ghost Walk Tour at Palace Hotel

Have you heard about the ghost walk tour at San Francisco’s Palace Hotel?  I cannot get enough ghost stories at Halloween time. Spectral visions, glowing orbs and mysterious events all haunt the hotel… and it’s no wonder as kings and presidents died there, gun shots have been fired through their corridors and tragic romances have ended at the Palace.  Ah! I have goosebumps already! The next tour is tomorrow, Saturday, October 29th at 6:30 pm. More info here!

Alameda Point Vintage Fashion Faire

Last Friday was the opening night of the Alameda Point Vintage Fashion Faire, but if you missed it, don’t fret!  The next show will happen in April 2012.  Sandra Michaan, show curator and founder did an amazing job assembling the best vintage resources- I was especially impressed with the glamorous vintage furs, period costumes and variety of men’s fashion!

I’ll admit, I shopped the show for three full hours, which felt like 30 minutes! {I can really shop…} The opening night- which is THE time to go to get first dibs!- had live music from the Blue Bone Express {who even dropped in a few Mad Men songs- so fun!} and gin cocktails by St George Spirits of Alameda. Here are a few shots I took from the show…

Decade: An Illustrated Diary

It’s official, consider Ruby Press totally, completely, and 100% obsessed with Bernadette Pascua’gorgeous fashion inspired illustrations. The young (she is just 28!), Brooklyn-based fashion illustrator has our entire office mesmerized (seriously, her Flickr account is pinterest-level addicting)! We just have one question, how did we not know about this crazy-talented artist until now?
