Definitely not another bill…

While on Design Love Fest the other day, I saw this amazing monthly gift box subscription service that I just am going crazy over. It’s called Not Another Bill, and it’s so chic and beautifully curated- Past surprises include a Merchant & Mills sewing kit, Falcon Enamelware, Prospector Co perfumes and an adorable Victor Stuart Graham toy sailboat. Send as a gift, subscribe for yourself, or just shop the past gifts shop! LOVE! (Great find, Bri!!)

Mr. Selfridge

Oh, I am counting the days until this new British import hits the states {on March 31st}.  The show is called Mr. Selfridge and Jeremy Piven plays the title character, Gordon “Harry” Selfridge, who revolutionized the shopping experience through his creation of the famous British department store, Selfridges.  Credited with the sayings “Only XX shopping days until Christmas” and “The customer is always right!”, and the first to introduce a ‘beauty hall’ and soda fountain within a store, he was a true retail pioneer.

If you’re like me, and you love learning about the history of retailing, do a little reading up here…and learn about his loves and tragic end.  Other suggested reading: this book, this book, this book and this book that inspired the series.

Maison Scotch

I’ve had my eye on this amazing Dutch brand ever since spotting them on office favorite Honestly…WTF a couple months ago. LOVING Maison Scotch‘s Spring/Summer 2013  collection- so cute and has me wishing for warmer days.  How beautiful are these embroidered shorts and fringe details? And the model- a little Natalia Vodianova, no?

Louis Chairs

We are finally ready to part with our pale blue Louis chairs here in the Ruby Press office.  Ever since Cassandra featured our office almost 4 years ago, we have had so many inquiries about them.  {I bought them from- get this!!- Pottery Barn Teen- a million years ago!}  I will sell them locally on craigslist this week- but if you want them and live nearby, let me know!  {Blog readers get first dibs!}

John Derian

Oh, I have long had a love affair with Mr. Derian.  It started years ago, when I would walk 5 blocks down from my East Village apartment to his charming little shop, where I would always find something to buy {that I didn’t need, but couldn’t live without}.  John worked the store back then, and when he wrapped even the simplest purchase up in old pages from beautiful vintage books, I knew it was meant to be.

I know I’m not alone- don’t you adore his new apartment {as seen in T Magazine} and insanely exquisite designs for Paperless Post?

{And lucky me- my forward-thinking husband is not at all upset by my indiscretion- in fact, John Derian was present at our wedding…or should I say, his paperweights were!!}
