Product Placement

We will consult on the production of your press materials, develop and implement a solid PR strategy to generate national and regional press coverage and create programs that will generate brand awareness and create PR buzz about your brand.

Each season (fall/winter and spring/summer), we book a hotel suite in New York City to showcase our product placement clients’ lines and/or press materials. We hold appointments with national media for three days, with a solidly booked schedule – meeting with 60-75 editors per trip.

Throughout the season we will work closely with editors, writers, stylists, producers and costumers to place your products or brand in the media. We take a creative approach to pitching your business, exploring every angle.

We will work closely with your team to create the national and regional product placements that will increase your company’s name recognition and build your brand identity.

Retail Therapy

Founder Melissa Davis has extensive experience in the retail world. In addition to her eight years as a national fashion editor, she spent five years covering Northern California as a Contributing Editor for “shopping bible” Lucky magazine, where she created content for multiple pages in the magazine each month and hosted bi-weekly television segments on the KRON morning news on the magazine’s behalf. While with Lucky magazine, Melissa reported on local designers, retailers, and trends which she also did while at 7×7, a San Francisco city magazine where she served as Fashion Editor for two years. At Ruby Press, Melissa and her team have worked with retailers in a variety of capacities, including consulting on merchandise assortments, store layout, décor, and overall concept, as well as creating memorable press kits, suggesting and implementing marketing initiatives, and creating successful, memorable events.

Our Retail Therapy services include:

  • New Store Openings: Your store opening is big news, and we’ll make sure all the right people know about it. We can work with you to create a stylish event- small and intimate or loud and splashy- that will set the tone for your new venture. Or, if you prefer a softer launch, we believe that you don’t need to scream to get noticed and can suggest ways to create a buzz without spending too much of your start-up capital.
  • PR and Merchandising Initiatives: We get that sometimes you just need a little boost. We’ll help you capitalize on your strengths- we’ll play up what you’re doing right and suggest ideas on how to freshen up your boutique, whether you should reconsider inventory assortment, or even tweak the overall approach. Once a fresh, new angle is conceptualized and executed, we’ll direct you on how to create the necessary press materials and we’ll create an outreach program designed to get the word out to the appropriate media outlets.
  • In-Store Events: Whether you are celebrating an anniversary, the opening of a new division, expansion, or a mind-blowing sale, we’ll work closely with you to conceptualize a newsworthy and memorable event, and will create an outreach program to attract all of the ‘right’ media. We believe that it’s all in the details, so we obsess over every aspect of your event from creating a theme down to the contents of the goody bags.

Design Consulting

Founder Melissa Davis spent twelve years at Harper’s Bazaar, Mademoiselle, and Lucky sifting through the American market to find stand-out designers/brands and putting them on the page. She retains the keen eye of an editor and has an uncanny ability to know exactly what they want and when they’ll want it.
