Two thousand eight marked the 80th anniversary of iconic American accessory brand, Cole Haan. To celebrate this milestone, and pay homage to the company’s heritage and signature style, Cole Haan unveiled a special fall collection of shoes and handbags as well as a new jewelry collection, designed by Anna Sheffield.
Cole Haan asked Ruby Press to create a private dinner party that would celebrate the company’s anniversary, pay tribute to guests of honor Design Director Paul Overfield and jewelry designer Anna Sheffield, and increase awareness of the fall line with Bay Area press.
Ruby Press created a guest list for the intimate dinner which included influential local media as well as stylish San Franciscan tastemakers. For the location, Ruby Press owner Melissa Davis chose Spruce restaurant in San Francisco and set the scene with a warm autumnal theme. Spruce’s private “Laurel Room”, complete with leather club chairs and chocolate brown mohair covered walls, was dressed with lush dahlias, button mums, and berries in hues of plum, warm oranges and deep reds. Vessels were covered with rich leathers and the calligraphed place cards were set into ripe pears. Anna’s jewelry collection and the fall collection of shoes and handbags were on display throughout the warmly lit space.
Goal: To create a buzz on a local level about the 80th anniversary of iconic American brand, Cole Haan.
Results: Ruby Press attracted 10 local editors to the event and secured coverage of the brand in over 16 targeted outlets (and counting), including the San Francisco Chronicle’s SFiS, 7×7, San Francisco Magazine, 944 San Francisco, Diablo, Glam.com, and Lucky’s regional page.
