Ruby Press created a “carnival of sweets” themed event to celebrate the accessory company’s tenth year in business.
Viv&Ingrid’s bonbon lacquered cupcake box served as Ruby Press’ inspiration for the “carnival of sweets” themed event. In an era of evites and emails, guests received a beautifully designed carnival-ticket style invitation in the mail which gave them a tiny taste of what was to come.
The party was held at Miette Confiserie, an old-fashioned candy store in San Francisco’s trendy Hayes Valley. When guests arrived at the door they were each given a raffle ticket and invited to a glass of champagne or a bottle of Dry Soda, complete with a vintage-style red and white striped straw. The cherry red candy table was filled with treats that were just as beautiful to look at as they were tasty to eat. Guests enjoyed organic lavender cotton candy on a stick, homemade ‘cracker jack’, old-fashioned lollipops, pastel-colored malted milk balls and rock candy that glimmered like jewels. A peek inside the glass case at the counter revealed Viv&Ingrid’s spring 2010 collection as well as Miette’s ‘old fashioned’ cupcakes, which bore a striking resemblance to the Viv&Ingrid bonbon lacquer cupcake boxes.
Guests were delighted when, every 30 minutes, Vivian and Ingrid gave away signature earrings and necklaces to the lucky winner with the matching raffle ticket number. Over $1,000 worth of jewelry was given to loyal Viv&Ingrid fans throughout the evening. Upon departing, guests were given a candy-colored balloon containing a “fashion fortune”, which was released when popped, commemorative canvas goody bag stuffed with jewelry, a Viv&Ingrid bonbon lacquered cupcake box, and other carnival-themed treats.
GOAL: Viv&Ingrid owners Vivian and Ingrid approached Ruby Press to create a unique and memorable event reflecting the Viv&Ingrid brand. Their hopes were to create a buzz around their ten year anniversary and give back to the loyal customers, buyers, and members of the media.
RESULTS: The party was a smashing success, with a line out the door to get in. Guests, which included local media, boutique owners and buyers, and stylish viv&ingrid fans, squealed with delight over the jewelry raffle, oohed and ahhed over the spring 2010 jewelry display, snacked on sweets and sipped on champagne and had an overall grand time. Media coverage of the event reached over 400,000 viewers/readers, with 7×7 featuring the event online and San Francisco magazine covering the event in their Outtakes section. Founders Vivian Wang and Ingrid Chen were thrilled with the outcome and basked in the glow of well-wishers all night long.
