A Trip Back In Time

I’m a bit captivated by all things vintage, so when I came across this video of a trip on a Berkeley trolley from, get this, 1906, I knew I had to share! It was filmed just a month after the notorious San Francisco Earthquake, at the beginning of a mass migration out of the city to escape the quake’s aftermath. If you look closely at the image below, you can see a man walking right in the middle of the train tracks. The drama that ensues from this event shows that, even back then, Berkeley was a place where people weren’t afraid to do things a little bit differently. We’ll miss you Berkeley. Only three more days until we move!

Cavalier

Last month, local interior designer extraordinaire Jay Jeffers and creative director Michael Purdy opened their doors at Cavalier.  This super-chic home decor shop which specializes in vintage, and limited edition pieces may be in San Francisco, but with their online shop, you don’t have to be a local to take a little Cavalier home with you.

Alameda Point Vintage Fashion Faire this weekend!

We are just counting the minutes until the Alameda Point Vintage Fashion Faire this Friday and Saturday. This show’s theme is vintage travel {think Pan-Am} with a costume contest, live band, and cocktails by St. George Spirits for shoppers on Friday’s preview night.  {Not to mention first dibs!} But not to worry if you can’t make it on Friday night- with 50+ booths, there will be plenty to go around for Saturday shoppers.

Mignonne Handmade

It’s no wonder that a nostalgic art history graduate working at a little flower shop would create this incredibly sweet line of wedding accessories! Born out of a love for embellishment, decorative forms and all around pretty things from bygone eras, Jenn Wood creates custom headbands, shoe clips and silk flower bouquets. I’m so in love!! Jenn uses all eco-friendly materials from vintage flowers, organic silks, organic hemp/cotton blends to the exotic (like pineapple fibers!). Perfection all around!

Belle Heir Vintage Baby

Well, I’m several days past my due date now, which means relaxing at home through these last few uncomfortable days and getting excited about our little guy’s arrival!  I have been spending some quality time on a few really great ‘mom’ blogs- and Bloesem Kids is just such an amazing source of inspiration across the board.  I just came across this vintage baby clothing shop last night and…wow!  What gorgeous vintage clothes for babies!  I had to share…
